So let me Tell You A Nice Little Story. For The Better Part of A Year Ive Been Following this Viral Game For The Dark Knight Film - Basically what its Doing Is Setting Up Backstory For The Film by using Scavenger Hunt type games - which hand out some very interesting prizes, such as cell phones, Mock Newspapers, promo images, Advance Screenings, Etc. The Only downside was, that Any Time There was a chance to Go and Play one of these scavenger hunts, I Had Classes, So I had no time to waste on it.
Yesterday - My Patience Paid off...
Last Friday A Site for Gotham City Pizzeria Came Up Offering a Special Promotion The following Monday in Connection With Domino's Pizza - Now To Help Keep up With the viral I usually Check Out The Super Hero Hype Forum - Good Group of Guys if You ever Wanna Crack A riddle Or two - Anyway, there were members beleiving this to be a dead end, as it had never gone as mainstream as this. and In a sense its true. for the past few months 42Entertainment (The Marketing Group Behind The TDK Viral, The Halo 2 "I Love Bees" Viral, Nine Inch Nails Viral, Etc.) Have Been Sending People to Locations Such as Bowling Alleys, and Bakerys to Pick Up Cakes, Bowling Balls, Fake ID's, voter registration Cards, T-Shirts, Etc. You Name It, Theyve Given It away! Most of the Prizes Came With a cell Phone For Contact Purposes From A Certian Clown - But the thing was They were never any major corprate companies Such as Dominos Pizza! Come Sunday People Find out about special pizza boxes and a contest and felt robbed.
Still I wanted to see what the deal was. So Monday Afternoon around Noon-ish, I checked the Site Out. Turns out the Special Promotion was Noneother Than A FREE PIZZA for Monday Only! There were a few conditions though -
1. You Could Only Order It Online through Delivery
2. There were only a select set of locations that Held the Offer (17 Up Here In NY!)
3. The Offer Was first Come, First Served - Meaning after the first person took the offer, It would be no longer available at that store.
Now None of the Locations in V-Town Held the Offer - But there were Two Stores not but 10 or so minutes away that did. Knowing that there was no chance they would deliver it to me, i found out that others had the same problem, and solved that, by Setting the Address of the Domino's as their Delivery location, and then picking Them up.
Of Course In New York, You could Piss someone off For doing that, so i called instead. I asked the first store if they knew anything about the Free pizza offer, the Guys Knew nothing about it. So then I Hung Up, and called the Next store, The Guy working there said he would have to talk to his boss - Im thinking "Oh Shit, This Dudes thinking This Is Some Practical Joke", and tells me his boss will call me. A few minutes later he does, and Says that he Knows about the offer. So i told him my situation, and he understood. he told me that while they couldnt deliver it to me, i was welcome to pick it up! Well Of course Im Not Gonna Turn Down a Free Pizza, Delvery Or Pickup Be damned, I Said It wasnt a Problem.
About 10-20 min later, i reach the Place and the guy gives me my pizza, no Questions asked. After he gave me the pizza, i felt something else had to be coming out of this, so i asked If a Package was Supposed To be Coming With it. The guy said He almost Forgot about it Until I reminded him - Whew on that one! - He Hands Me a package wrapped in black plastic. when i get home i Opened it, and I Happened to get something Very interesting:
Thats My Halloween costume Right There! Now I Just Need the Cape, Cowl and Suit!
So Free Food, A Free Mask (Which is Pretty good Quality Mind you), and A Free copy Of the Gotham Times! Who Said Monday Was the Worst day of the Week???
Oh And It turns Out I was Much Luckier than expected. Turned out A lot of people who got their pizzas delivered either Didnt get their mask, because the Employees Forgot, Didnt open the FedEx Box that The package Was in, Or Because the Manager's Kept the Mask For themselves.
But It wasnt a total loss for everyone - Later that night people got a Nice little clip From The Site, and While Its Short, Its a doozy!:
